  10. Los Gatos, CA, June 25, 1991 -- Now available!  OMCD is a CD-ROM device driver
  11. which allows the Macintosh to read data from CD-ROM drives in the same manner
  12. it reads floppy and hard disks.
  13. OMCD supports "Foreign File Access" as defined by Apple. This feature of the
  14. Mac operating system allows the support of non-HFS CDs by format specific
  15. "access files" which are stored in the system folder. At present, Apple
  16. provides three standard access files:
  17.  
  18.   •Audio CD Access: Recognizes audio CDs and is responsible
  19.    for displaying an Audio CD icon on the desktop.
  20.   •High Sierra File Access: Access software for High Sierra
  21.    formatted CD-ROMs.
  22.   •ISO 9660 File Access: Access software for ISO 9660 formatted
  23.    CD-ROMs.
  24.   •Foreign File Access: Allows access of the above files.

  26. These files are included on the OMCD master disk.

  28. It contains an INIT which loads on start-up and a cdev that allows access to
  29. the driver’s controls through the Macintosh Control Panel desk accessory.  OMCD
  30. supports multiple volumes on a single CD-ROM, using both the old and new (Mac
  31. II and A/UX) partition format.  Also, OMCD now supports  Systems 7.0.

  33. Optical Media International supports most major brands of CD-ROM players with
  34. many different OMCD device drivers.  The following is a list of CD-ROM players
